Indiana Jewish Historical Society collection addition, 1985-2009.

This collection is an addition to the Indiana Jewish Historical Society collection, 1845-2002. It contains information relating to: the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation Cemetery Project, Dr. Irvin Borish, Bob Freed, the Kohn twins, and the Temple B'nai Israel of Kokomo. In addition there are items relating to various Jewish organizations including Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, Congregation Sons of Abraham, National Council of Jewish Women, the Bureau of Jewish Education, Inc., the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis, and the Indianapolis Chapter of Hadassah.

Congregation Beth-El Zedeck was formed in March 1927 from the merger of two conservative congregations: Beth-El and Congregation Ohev Zedeck. Rabbi Milton Steinberg (1903-1950) served as the congregation's first spiritual leader. Rabbi Steinberg left Beth-El Zedeck in 1933 and was succeeded by Rabbi Elias Charry.
